This Poirot detective story is a departure from Christie's usual format of a murder in a manor-house. With its use of multiple murders with sparse and conflicting evidence for their purpose and methods, this one had me hooked up to the big…

Hercule Poirot does it again. I picked this one up as part of my reading of the eight mysteries spoiled in Eight Perfect Murders by Peter Swanson before I read it. This one, told from the perspective of Hastings was interesting and, from…

This is the 11th Hercule Poirot full length novel that was first published in 1936. It is a very good mystery and has been made into a movie in 2018 starring John Malkovich as Poirot. I prefer the version starring David Suchet as…

A very enjoyable day diving into an Agatha Christie mystery. Today, I read The ABC Murders and at times I find Hercule Poirot’s French phrases a little too much, especially when challenged with the translation. What caught my fancy? The…

Fascinating, written in 1936, with the development of psychiatry and initial understandings of criminal behavior. Be sure to look up what an ‘alienist’ is! Even so, there seems to me that there is a lot in this book about that…

I actually kind of predicted how it would end, since I saw something similar on a murder mystery TV show, but I was still really surprised by the ending. It was really great and another work of genius from Agatha Christie.

Poirot at his best. Agatha Christie does it again!

Another great Christie mystery. Let me simply say, what seems obvious is not always correct.

Poirot is at it again! And this time he must overcome obstacles within and without. Although Hastings is as oblique as ever, and the conundrum of the alphabetical order of the murders is contrasted with the ABC railway line schedules that…
