I normally do not recommend a book until I have finished reading it but the book I am reading now is a very good one and I recommend that everyone should read it!!! It is called On the Laps of Gods and was written by Robert Whitaker. It is about that horrible event in Phillips County, Arkansas in 1919 and what happened afterward. While it is difficult to read, it is equally difficult to put down. I have read two other books about this event but this book is superior to the other two books (A Mob Intent on Death and Blood in Their Eyes) as it has a greater depth of details which the other books are sadly lacking!!!This book was also of particular interest to me because I grew up in Helena, Arkansas and had never even heard of this event until I was in my 20s. From what I understand they have put up, or will put up, a remembrance monument for this – which is as it should never be forgotten since a well-known saying states that “Those who fail to remember history are doomed to repeat it”
