Russian art (music, literature and film) is much like the country - long, boring and not much there. This movie is no exception. I began watching Friday night and it was not over until the following Tuesday. Long, pointless scenes abound (driving thru the city, staring at a painting) and are interspersed with black & white (which, I can only assume, are there because of a lack of color film stock in early 1970s Soviet Union). I was especially dissappointed because of the IMDB rating of 8.1. Just because Russia only releases 5 movies per century does not mean they are "special", it means they are bad at making movies.
