Rape and the Justice System in a College Town
Jun 26, 2016Chapel_Hill_MollyL rated this title 3 out of 5 stars
I'm a big Jon Krakauer fan--his books are well-reported and super readable. I found the reporting in this book to be less complex than his previous work--given his scope, this probably would have made a great long-form article. That said, I appreciate Krakauer's work toward reshaping our culture's view of rape by re-centering the discussion on the perpetrator's crime--and more importantly, how our criminal justice system protects those perpetrators--rather than the historical focus on the victim's behavior. An important critical look at our cultural assumptions about rape and rapists.
