This was way better than Eldest. Brisingr is by far the best book in the series. There's a lot more action, more, you know, important things. But an objection is that a lot of the book focuses more on Roran and less and less on Eragon. Isn't Eragon the MAIN character and the Rider? The last quarter of this is especially exciting except for the chapter long process of how to make a sword. That was really boring. But Glaedr was very interesting to read from his perspective, and you get the feel that this is just the warm-up battle before King Galbatorix. That leads to another question: how come even though supposedly he destroyed the Riders and everything and rules the Empire, he's never gone after Eragon personally? Nooo, instead he sends soldiers and Murtaugh and Thorn. You never really get to actually meet him. A reallllly big plot twist included Brom in a way, but I'm not going to spoil anything. It seems that even though after the events in book one, you know, THAT, he still leaves a long lasting impact on Eragon and his decisions. You get to know more of his past from other people. The realization of him and Eragon left him gaping for like, five minutes straight. Nasuada seems to be more bitter and jaded. Though still fair, she struck me as a harder person than before and stricter. She fully demanded Eragon's and Roran's service no matter what the protests. To be honest, as a character she's lost a lot of the original appeal she used to have to me.
