Decent, if predictable (I mean, you know how it's going to end.), film of one of the most mythologized events in American history. There's a much more famous version with John Wayne and this, which was released in 2004, was a huge flop. Maybe people weren't feeling too patriotic after 4 years of Bush. To the film's credit, it does present more of the Mexican side, even if Santa Ana is a caricature, and it tries to bring some nuance to the story. It looks good and the battle scenes are pretty-well staged, but the acting is pretty dull, especially by Dennis "DQ" Quaid (Sam Houson) and Jason Patric (Jim Bowie). Billy Bob Thornton (Davy Crockett) and Jordi Molla seem to be the only ones trying. There's also Patrick Wilson as William Travis. For a little more history, pick up James Crisp's "Sleuthing the Alamo."
