I would rate Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins 3/5 stars. This is the second book in the Anna and the French Kiss trilogy. I enjoyed how the book incorporated Anna and Étienne from the first book throughout the story. It was interesting to see how they ended up and where they are now. I found that Lola had a very strong personality that wasn’t very relatable to me. She was very into design and was very outgoing, this trait was shown a lot throughout the book, which I personally didn’t enjoy, although if you do relate to her, it would be very interesting. In the book, Lola’s boyfriend is 22 years old, which I really did not like because she was very young. I feel that Lola was being taken advantage of, but she still found Max irresistible. I did enjoy how Cricket was nicer to her though, he showed the type of guy we should all want, he promoted healthy relationships. I would recommend reading this book after Anna and the French Kiss, especially if you enjoy reading pieces by Sarah Dessen and Kasie West. @Dolphin05 of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library The novel by Stephanie Perkins " Lola and the Boy Next Door' is a story about Lola the costume designer. She lives in San Francisco with her two dads and is enjoying her life. One day when her childhood neighbors, the Bell twins move back in, she revisits some memories. Calliope Bell was friends with Lola until they got into such a large fight that their friendship was terminated. Lola also remembers that she had feelings for Cricket Bell. Will she try to fix her friendship with Calliope or will she peruse Cricket? Can she do both without hurting the other? This is an interesting story about choices and opportunities which can greatly succeed or can crash down. Lola rushes with many feelings and emotions trying to figure out what to do. I give this book a 3.5/5. @flarrow_s of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library
