The second and final (sniffle) season of one of the more offbeat shows of the '00s. Clearly it was too strange and original for network TV and it's a pity it didn't find a home on cable. It's mixture of charming romance, morbid humor, visual wit, crackling dialogue, and pies has few precedents. The main actors are all terrific and have some of the best rapport I've seen in a cast. It also has an impressive array of guest stars, including (this season) George Segal, Nora Dunn, Stephen Root, and Missi Pyle. It's the rare TV show that has a very distinctive look to it. Cut yourself a piece of pie and enjoy. Creator Bryan Fuller currently does "Hannibal." Executive produced by Barry Sonnenfeld ("Get Shorty," "Men in Black"). The extras on this set are pretty minimal, so hopefully this will get a deluxe box set at some point.
