This is a beautiful and touching memoir of the author's life. If you need a reminder (I did!) Similar to an autobiography, a memoir is the story of a person's life written by that person. The difference between a memoir vs. an autobiography is that a memoir focuses on reflection and establishing an emotional connection, rather than simply presenting the facts around their life. Krosoczka does a wonderful job connecting with the reader. The story of his difficult childhood is told in a heartfelt and real way. The style of the artwork combining hard lines and washes of color and shading are very personal and the artifacts shared throughout add to the human touch. You wont want to miss the sections at the very end where Krosoczka shares his comments about the process of creating this masterpiece!
