I loved this movie and hope you do too. It is slower than you expect but still tense, and thought provoking even despite the paucity of dialog. The cinematography is beautifully shot, and I especially appreciated the immersive nature of the aerial dog-fights. Following the multiple story-lines requires your attention, but is worth it. I connected the dots in the story lines much better in the 2nd viewing, and appreciated it even more. For those that thought the plot or story was sub-par, I suspect that Nolan's goal was to try to see the story through essentially the first-person view. And just like my own life, there is not a narrator sitting over my shoulder to explain to you the historical context or my actions in real time. So, hit up a book for that context, or YouTube if you are rushed for time. It will make you even more amazed that this happened. Those reviewers who tell you 'don't waste your time', obviously have different tastes or don't 'get it'. But their warning does you a disservice, and may reflect they are too self absorbed to realize others may like the very things in the movie that they didn't. I would guess that those griping, like a very different kind of war movie, one that may be equally good. But to each, their own. I, for one and in line w many glowing reviews, found it a very worthwhile movie. I hope you do too.
