This is a gripping and at times chilling story of a police officer doing the graveyard shift looking after a 77 year old serial killer awaiting trial. Tight, evocative writing builds a terrific tale of how the two men become friendly and just how alike they are in certain areas of life, personality and their thinking. You get a glimpse of their similarities through the flash back chapters- particularly when the killer is telling the deputy of the other murders he has committed that no one knows about. But did he? well worth the read and time devoted to it. the writing is lyrical and beautifully descriptive.
