One needs to use common sense when approaching an eating plan. It took the person who wrote the book The Vegetarian Myth 20 years to realize that the cause of why she was feeling terrible was her diet. I thought The Vegetarian Myth was an horrible book and badly written. The comment below sounds like a political rant.
I went on the Atkins diet for 3 days and I felt terrible. Excess protein causes bone loss and kidney problems, as the excess is secreted along with calcium.
I believe that the Vegan diet is best but hard to follow. If you follow it and feel better stay on it. I like Dr Fuhrman common sense approach. He says to try to follow a vegetarian diet 60% of the time.
