#1 New York Times bestseller

A sweeping stand-alone fantasy romance from Kiera Cass, author of the Selection series.

Kahlen is a Siren, bound to serve the Ocean by luring humans to watery graves with her voice, which is deadly to any human who hears it. Akinli is human--a kind, handsome boy who's everything Kahlen ever dreamed of. Falling in love puts them both in danger . . . but Kahlen can't bear to stay away. Will she risk everything to follow her heart?

Originally self-published, The Siren has been completely rewritten and redesigned.

Really great book! Would totally give it a five out of five! Kiera Cass really outdid herself on this book. If you enjoyed her Selection series, then you are also going to love this book as well. It has it all. Fantasy, drama, friendship and of course a cute romance too. The romantic love story between Akinli and Kahlen is hearthswarming and sweet, because they are made for each other!

I really like this book, I loved the story. But it went a little slow. I think it would have been better if the ocean was more of a bad guy, like that Kahlen, Elizabeth, Padma, and Miaka had to escape somehow. Like they should have had to find a way to break the curse or something. I like the part that Kahlen couldn't speak to Akinli, I thought that made the plot thicken pretty quickly. I would suggest this book to everyone.

This was rather underwhelming, to be honest. The concept was interesting, but it could have been done so much better.

This novel really plays with the idea that with the right determination anything can be overcome.

So hauntingly depressing. It felt like the Ocean was the "bad guy", but then I understood why She does what She does. This was like a twisty and deeper version of the fairy tale, the Little Mermaid. I really loved this. I don't think it was as amazing as the Selection series, but it was still really good.

Haunting and heartbreaking, this is a story of those two great themes: love and death. The romance described in the book jacket is just one of the many important loves in the story--sisterly love and the love between humans and the Ocean are just as significant and poignant as the love between the main character and the boy who becomes her soulmate. Beware picking up this book as a light read, however, as this is an emotionally hefty story.

When a siren falls for the wrong person she will do anything to keep him alive even if it means putting her life in jeopardy. This story of finding love captures your heart and doesn't let go. People need a soul mate to make living worth while. A great story to last for ages.

I loved this book so much. It was the first book in my life where I finished it and actually enjoyed it thoroughly. The book was pure, and full of softness. The main Character was a siren but she still had a heart which I admire a lot. The centre theme of this book was not only romance but also sisterly-love. The sisters in this book cherished each other a lot which made me tear up in the end. Overall I really love this book :)

DNF (did-not-finish) at page 39. The writing is not working for me and the author does not explain important details, assuming the reader would know everything about the protagonist as well as the book world. I'm surprised by the writing (very terrible!) because I actually enjoyed one of The Selection prequel novellas. Also, it's super creepy for the MC to keep a scrapbook of her victims, serial killers do the same thing (keep "trophies" or mementos). If you really want to read this, I'd recommend taking it out from the library and saving your money.
