This is a small and short book published by DK (Dorling Kindersley). I usually like DK books, but this one was disappointing. There are two to three stitches per page and that's only half of the book. Many were variations of a basic stitch. The photos are difficult to see because the thread is a thick fuzzy yarn. Each stitch is given in two to three steps which for the complicated ones is not quite enough. The cover is probably the prettiest thing in the book, meant to sell photos, not to teach embroidery or as an embroidery reference. For example, on p 48 is an open square stitch. Never heard of it but it looks suspiciously like blanket stitch, a very common stitch. There are only two steps shown and the verbal instructions are confusing, so who knows. Maybe it's blanket stitch and maybe it's just a straight stitch in the shape of a box. ;)
