I've never read an historical romance quite like this one. It was heartbreaking, inspiring, and a little on the grittier side. I enjoyed every moment of it. All of the positive reviews were spot-on this time. I can barely reign in my excitement to begin the next book in this series.

Great start to a series I'll be watching out for -- complex characters and a most unusual back story.
