A cute Western fantasy that is full of surprises and not produced by Hollywood or Italian film makers: John Maclean (Scottish writer/director,) Michael Fassbender (Irish-German actor,) Kodi Smit-McPhee (Aussie actor,) ... and Caren Pistorius (South African-New Zealand actor.) Of note is that the story location is Colorado with its imposing Rocky Mountain range but actually filmed in New Zealand with its own majestic scenery.

One of the few times I thought - This film is not long enough. Only 85 minutes, could have had a few more good scenes. Oh well, better than being too long.

Sluggish West
Brits should stay away from making westerns.

I definitely enjoy westerns,( I was raised in TX’s & love seeing men & women in cowboy wear!)
Great bunch of actors too, I’m on a Michael Fassbender phase. Enjoyable story & recommend it to watch.👏

I loved it. Paced as it should have been. A brilliant, tragic Western with a wonderful core premise. A young, love struck kid who crosses Hell, high water, and the globe to find his one true love, Rose. I will look forward to more from John Maclean.

The movie is slow, but I didn't mind that; given the title, I expected it. I enjoyed this nontraditional Western and its setting. In my opinion, it is similar to and much better than The Hateful Eight, which was also slow but additionally painfully long--exactly twice as long as Slow West, in fact.
