Although it was fun to watch Meryl Streep at her witchy best, this movie was far too long to sustain my interest.

I thought that Into the Woods was a very interesting movie. I liked all of the music, and think that that gave a lot of energy, and meaning, to the film. The acting was very well done, and I quickly became engaged with the characters. I was very impressed with the film, until it reached its ending, which I found to be unsatisfying. I think that if the ending was happy, I would have loved this film, but alas it was not. Therefore, although it is a fantastic musical, I wouldn’t recommend this film to other viewers who are looking for a light-hearted, uplifting movie. 3.5/5 -@PenelopeScriptor of the Hamilton Public Library's Teen Review Board

Into The Woods is a Disney produced musical movie based off of the broadway show written by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine. The movie is a colourful yet dark film that focuses on the lesser aspects of living in a fairytale. While it takes inspiration from classic tales, Into The Woods is not a story about finding your prince or getting rich and living happily ever after, no, in fact it goes deeper into the lives of iconic characters after they've been given their happy endings. This story is a story about consequences and morality. It has a lot to teach those who watch it. The movie can still be watched by children, but it is recommended for those who are a bit older due to the subject matter. The actors all do a great job of presenting themselves as these iconic characters. They do a great job with the music as it is a musical, though unfortunately some important songs such as 'No More' are cut out, along with important plot points in the story. The movie does a fair enough adaptation and is still worth a watch despite me wishing for an uncut story. 3.5/5

Into the Woods, I give this movie a 4 out of five. I love this movie it's so original, they put a spin on the original fairy tales, and show them as if they are all one big story, and I love movies that put a spin on things. This movie gives off a creepy mood but it's not scary, it is dark, many people are not sure if this is a kid's movie because of some of the dark themes. But as always, I am still in love with this movie for so much more than the dark themes, the acting is great and makes me feel that the person acting is the actual person. The singing is marvelous, and I love listening to musicals and their soundtracks, knowing every single word from each song is what I love to learn. The songs help the movie to go along with the movie and this one is the best one that I've heard all year. I loved all the familiar faces and seeing them all work together to make such an amazing movie. I also love but many other people who enjoy spin-off's too old stories. I recommend this movie to people who just want a new movie to watch or maybe are just bored.

One of those musicals where everyone talks in a singing voice like all the time, instead of having any good/memorable musical numbers

A good film adaptation of the musical

Wow, does this film come right at you from the start! Hardly a moment to catch your breath. One thing is certain: critics could never dismiss Into the Woods as "formulaic." Excellent acting and very good-to-excellent vocals, even from the children. Typical Disney production, with no expense spared, nor detail overlooked.

The story was quite dark and morbid, but there were some absolutely hilarious moments in the movie that I think made up for it. The songs were great too; my favourites were Agony (LOL!) and Your Fault. The cast was excellent, the plot was interesting and I loved the mix-up of fairy tales (it was the original Grimm (and kind of grim) fairy tales and not the Disney versions, which was surprising but awesome!) It was definitely worth the watch!

It's disappointing that so many comments give such glowing reviews on such a horrible excuse of a film adaptation of what originally was a brilliant, funny, engaging Broadway musical. This movie is sadly devoid of the cleverness, pitch perfect humor, timing, and overall power performances of the original Broadway cast stage recording. The only thing that I can praise in this version is the scene in which Agony was performed, which was hilarious and surprisingly thoughtful, considering how ho-hum the rest of the movie was. But do yourself a favor and watch the original Broadway cast stage recording DVD with the incomparable Bernadette Peters, Chip Zien, and Joanna Gleason instead of this third rate adaptation. Or at least watch it first so you can know how fantastic this musical once was and was always meant to be.

It's fun, and for a film version of a stage show it does an admirable job. And really, it's worth your time just for "Agony" performed on that waterfall.

Baker's Wife: [speaking to Cinderella] "I need that shoe to have a child."

Cinderella: "That makes no sense!"

Baker's wife: That's what woods are for: For those moments in the woods...Oh, if life were made of moments, Even now and then a bad one--! But if life were only moments, then you'd never know you had one. First a witch, then a child, then a Prince, then a moment--Who can live in the woods? And to get what you wish, only just for a moment--These are dangerous woods..Let the moment go..Don't forget it for a moment, though. Just remembering you had an 'and,' when you're back to 'or,'
Makes the 'or' mean more than is did before. Now I understand--And it's time to leave the woods.

Got a chuckle on this exchange:

Prince: My love, what is it?
Cinderella: Maybe I'm not your only love.
Prince: I love you! Truly, I do.
Cinderella: If you love me, why did you stray?
Prince: Uh...I thought that if you were mine, I would never wish for more.
Cinderella: If this is how you behave as a prince, what kind of king will you be?
Prince: I was raised to be charming, not sincere.
Prince: I shall always love the maiden who ran away.
Cinderella: And I the faraway prince.
