Four men and a woman are reduced to a microscopic fraction of their original size, sent in a miniaturized atomic sub through a dying man's carotid artery to destroy a blood clot in his brain. If they fail, the entire world will be doomed. From the Paperback edition.
While reading this story, it is best to keep in mind that it was written in 1966. The book starts off a bit confusing, but after the group of five humans enters a man's body to destroy a clot that will kill him, the story is exciting and quite adventurous. There are lots of obstacles for the crew to overcome and I was eager to discover how each one is dealt with. Reading this book was also a fun way to refresh my knowledge of anatomy and human physiology.
One of the classic stories of the Science Fiction genre by one of the best authors of his generation. A wonderful story of adventure in an unusual environment.

Add a CommentThings really changed with MRI, robotic assisted surgery, better tools & new medicines. However, it was a good novel for its time.
