Full of information about Henry David Thoreau and the time in which he lived. Paints a vivid picture of life at that time and Thoreau's place in that world. Highly recommend to anyone who has ever read Walden.

Why did Thoreau live in a cabin for two years, two months, and two days? Sims gives us an answer, as well as building the world of Concord, MA, still riding it's revolutionary laurels and chock full of writers, transcendentalists, and abolitionists. A fascinating read for Thoreau readers and students doing a paper on the sojourn (closer to the road than we thought) in the cabin. Excellent bibliography for the general reader.
