A romantic comedy on two scientists using the chaos theory to predict fads in our society. They are Sandra and Bennet, working on the premise that a tiny action like the flap of a butterfly's wings in Arizona has an impact on the whole world, perhaps resulting in a hurricane in China. The couple's work on fad-diffusion produces comic as well as tragic results.

I kept smiling throughout listening to this book. It wasn't what I expected from Willis, but maybe I haven't read enough of her books yet. In this one, Sandra studies fads (specifically what starts them) and Bennett studies chaos at HiTek, a parody of corporate management. Between staff meetings to learn the newest acronym that will definitely increase creativity and productivity, as well as sensitivity exercises one can only escape by a desperate, instantaneous need to go to the loo, Sandra and Bennett meet and start working together on a project. Shake those two up with various coworkers, friends, and miscommunications. Now add the incompetent, indignant, and idiosyncratic Flip, interoffice communications facilitator (aka office assistant-and I don't mean that in a bad way). Not only does Flip slouch around the company's halls, losing paperwork, stacking up copy requests, and misdirecting packages, but she also turns out to be a catalyst for solving questions about fads, relationships, chaos theory, and winning a prestigious scientific prize.
