Written some 40 years after Moby Dick, Herman Meville's Billy Budd is a moving tale of good versus evil. Set aboard a British navy ship at the end of the eighteenth century, a young, innocent sailor's charm and good nature put the men around him at ease. Ship-life agreed with Billy. He made friends quickly and was well liked, which infuriated John Claggart, the ship's cold-blooded superior officer. Mutiny was a continual threat greatly feared by naval officers.

I listened to this book three times to get the complete enjoyment of it. The reader does a great job with the voices! Be warned "Jimmy legs is against ye".

While I couldn't even finish the first disc, the story itself seems like it's a good and well-written story. The description that Melville uses is very rich. The reader of this audiobook is fairly decent. My main problem is that I felt that this is book that I needed to actually sit down and read rather than listen to if I'm to get the full experiance.
