"Dr. Ben Carson made headlines with his keynote at the National Prayer Breakfast in February 2013. Standing just a few feet from President Obama, the neurosurgeon offered a common sense critique of liberal government, calling for a return to our historic culture of personal responsibility, free markets, and upward mobility. Now, in this sequel to their #1 New York Times bestseller America the Beautiful, Dr. and Mrs. Carson offer a bold plan to stop the country's slide into fiscal and moral decay. Avoiding the political correctness of politicians and the animosity of Washington lawyers, Dr. Carson calls for respectful discussion and disagreement, with no subjects off limits. Applying the problem-solving skills he honed as a surgeon, he takes on tough issues such as education, health care, family values, race relations, taxes, charity, and the role of faith in public life. In his journey from poverty to the top of his field, Dr. Carson has lived the American dream. He shows how we can save that dream for our future generations, by restoring a moral, informed citizenry that will support "one nation, under God, indivisible.""-- Provided by publisher.

Ben Carson is a very inspirational man. He would make a Great president! If he became president, i believe he would be another George Washington and Abraham Lincoln mixed together. It might be a good thing that he dropped out of the race. The reporters were trying desperately to run his good name through the mud. he is a good man and American. America doesn't deserve a GREAT man like Ben. i just hope America will Wake Up before God gives us exactly what we deserve. So many people are sooooo clueless.

Instead of reading links, read the book and arrive to your own conclusions. Dr. Carson's story is highly inspiring.

After having read at least four of Ben Carson's books so far, I would heartily agree with Slys65ss and rpavlacic in that Carson is NOT focused on party warfare so much as national success. He is a strong advocate of communication between both "wings" and is a strong opponent of "PC" speech. I would agree that PC speech is a HUGE impediment to our governmental system as is party warfare. Great going Slys65ss and rpavlacic. Possibly the best political book that I have read so far. (Haven't read many though)

I found Dr. Carson's idea of the HSA plan interesting as well as his flat 10% tax. Other than that his other ideas I am not so sure about as he is not clear. Readers must take into account he had not considered a campaign for the presidency. He is sheds a lot of light on his character and it helps people understand why he stands on the issues he does. Thought provoking read for those not sure how to vote when it comes to the large GOP race.

Reading this book, Dr. Carson comes across as an intelligent, compassionate man of great integrity. He came from nothing, but worked his tail off to achieve great success in his personal and professional life. Americans can learn a great deal by listening to what this man has to say.

What's so refreshing and great about Ben Carson is he is an advocate for free thinking. Political Correctness has ruined free thought and free speech in this country. His ideas are right on, and even if you don't agree with every single one of his beliefs, you have to admit that we are in a downward spiral in this country and big government is not the answer. A thoughtful read.

You may disagree with a great deal of what Dr. Carson stands for, but there is no doubt he makes his arguments cogently. One area that I absolutely agree with him on is "tort reform". He recalls spending a year in Australia and paying just $200 for malpractice insurance; when he returned to the States it skyrocketed to $300,000. Who would want to be a doctor with pressures like that? (And in Canada where contingency and class action lawsuits have now become the norm we're headed in the same direction.) Carson also makes a case for respecting gays and lesbians short of outright marriage, although the courts have pretty much decided that one. In the end, however, he rightly decries the total lack of communication between Republicans and Democrats and tells both sides to smarten up and start working together if America will ever have a chance to fix its problems.

I admired Dr. Carson before reading this book because of his life story and even more so afterwards. He addresses the major issues confronting the United States today offers his solutions. Above all, he stresses the importance of respectful discussion and encourages both sides of issues to work together to find a common goal that avoids imposing one side's will over the others.
