A film that picked on the well-honed death row machine in the state of Texas but with a very busy final dozen minutes that transform it to a thrilling mystery with multiple twists. (Oddly, critics panned this film precisely because of the final dozen minutes that changed the film's scope and direction dramatically!) A rare movie that was both serious and entertaining at the same time.

Intense. I wasn't sure I could keep watching till the end. Glad I did. Was not expecting it.

Very good movie. Sucks you in from the very beginning and leaves you guessing through out the whole movie and the ending gives you the greatest surprise of all! A+ all the way!

Incredible! Spacey is one of Hollywood's greatest actors, paired with Winslet - this film is the best suspense thriller I have seen in a very long time!

Fair - The Life of David Gale (2003) 130 min. with Kevin Stacey, Laura Linney and Kate Winslet. The film excels in acting, pace and an interesting screenplay. How this film bombs is how the crime is resolved. Ridiculous!!! To spend over 2 hours watching a pretty entertaining film and seeing an ending like this made me throw my precious remote at the televion (thank goodness, my aim sucks).

Even though we had seen this movie some years ago, it was good enough to watch again, especially since we didn't remember the ending.

What people will do for a cause they believe in. This movie really gets you at the end. Kevin Spacey is always fabulous.

Many quotes in IMDb, but not these "pick on Texas" ones:
Well, ma'am, this is not France. This is not Germany. This is Texas, and we're gonna follow Texas law.
===
All executions in the state of Texas... occur over at our Huntsville unit downtown... but death row is here for the time being. This is home to all 442 offenders prior to their date. Average stay on row is nine years. Now, some get commuted, but most get put to death.
===
Can't we just admit that the capital punishment system in this country is not working? We are condemning people to death based on phony expert testimony... on junk science, on-on jail house snitches...
===
The people of Texas are not deterred. We're still solidly behind the death penalty because it works. The system cannot be blamed for the acts of one deranged individual with an ax to grind. And people have been put to death in the name of this justice.! Let's not throw the baby out with the bath water, folks.
