Headed by President Josiah Bartlet, demonstrates that office politics are the same everywhere; things just have greater repercussions when your office happens to be the White House. Stories surround the President; his deputy communications director Sam Seaborn; his beleaguered press secretary, C.J. Cregg; the chief of staff, recovering boozehound Leo McGarry, who sacrifices his marriage to his career. Among the global crises Bartlet must finesse are a nuclear showdown between India and Pakistan, an American plane shot down by terrorists, and another downed U.S. plane in Iraq.

I avoided this show while it was in syndication as I am not a fan of several of the actors involved. On a recommendation from a friend recently I decided to give it a try and was very pleasantly surprised. It is fast paced and from online research very much like what actually happens in the west wing of the WH. The character development and story lines are very credible, even my wife is watching it and she does not enjoy anything political. I am looking forward to season two. Sheen is a great choice for president in this series.
