Just about everything today comes with an operating manual -- from your computer to your car, from your cell phone to your iPad. Is it possible that Life comes with an operating manual, as well? That's the simple, but powerful premise of Tom Shadyac's inspiring and provocative first book. Deep and meaningful. I felt like this book was speaking directly to me. The book does reference God, Jesus and many other spiritual topics however Tom includes an author's note on page 4 indicating that he has chosen to use the word God as it is the best word to describe many things pertaining to Mystery, Source, Creator etc. but is not meant to reference any particular religion or stereotypical image of a white bearded man etc.

This book is about awakening a society that is asleep at the wheel. I wish for all that read it to take away as much as I did. Amazing!

Don't listen to anyone who talks bad about this book. The director went through a life changing experience in which he almost died. This book is about someone who has experienced all the riches that Hollywood has to offer, yet gives it all up in search for the truth. This book speaks about love, compassion and cooperation. He offers actual studies and research to back up his findings. I didn't care too much for the dialogue but the nuggets of information in this book are too good to pass up!

The book started out to be not too terrible, then it just got old. I did make the effort to over-look all of the biblical references because I saw the movie, 'I AM.' It was very difficult to get through because there was way too much about religion, jesus, god, etc. If I wanted a sermon, I'd go to church. If you are of a religious disposition you would probably like this. I didn't care for it.
