Graphic novel perfect format to capture brief works of art of a master chef & what make him tick. Wide eyed author/illustrator also interviewed chef's staff (why they work for him) & his suppliers.

I enjoyed this unique approach to documenting the work of a master chef. Blain captures the eccentric, artistic, and holistic facets that make Passard and the fruits (or more likely vegetables) of his kitchen a rare treat. Blain shares a first-person perspective of his time shadowing the chef's kitchen and gardens, so the reader can easily relate. Recipes with illustrations are interspersed throughout the book, most of which are far fancier than my usual fare, but I look forward to braving one or two of the simpler dishes...eventually.
