This book is a compilation of the classic tales of The Brother's Grimm. I enjoyed it immensely because reading it took me back to the days of when you were read these stories all the time by your parents- albeit the more edited versions for children. I have to say some of the stories in here are a bit similar in the situations and the results of their actions, but I think that adds to their charm. In the descriptions at the end of each story you can really feel how much the writer cares for these stories. I think that's what sells it in the end. Great book!

Great re-telling of many of Grimm's fairy tales. What made it really interesting was the author's notes at the end of each tale.

Pullman's retelling of 50 of the fairy tales from the Brothers Grimm is straightforward and stripped of all Disney overlay. Very good from a master story-teller.
