Awesome book! Loved the characters and how everything made sense in the end. The different perspectives were really captivating and I found myself flipping through its pages to find out more.

When the apocalypse occurs I can't wait to say, "I got this. I've been preparing for it my whole life." Between growing up Mormon and reading every post apocalypse and dystopian book available I consider myself a veritable expert on the subject. But this novel irritated me due to the super natural abilities of the heroine. Or so feels the pragmatic, curmudgeonly old man in me. The Gilmore Girls, Judy Blume loving teenage girl in me however, could not get enough of this piece and knew I was in trouble when I rushed out to the YA section of the library (which always makes me a feel skeevy to be lurking there) for book two.

Loved this one, and don't know how I missed it before now. Combines dystopian bleakness with Tarot-inspired fantasy and some sizzling teen romance. Set in post-apocalyptic Louisiana, popular cheerleader Evie discovers her visions come true in a "Flash" which kills off most of the world's population as well as most living things (animals/plants/etc). Turns out she's the embodiment of one of the major arcana (The Empress) and it's up to her to find the other players and eventually face off against Death. Fun (dark) stuff.

........mighta just started reading this because I have a slightly unhealthy obsession with everything about to be or that is apocalyptic.. but honest to god i couldn't put it down. it definitely has nothing to do with me being sweet on Jack and the way Cole wrote his Lines and created his personality.. No. Definitely not.

I almost put this book down twice as I found it slow and sort of confusing to get going, but once it took off..wow I was hooked. Poison Princess is an endless thrill, full of deceit, and excitement. It spirals into a dark, sexy, and addicting read. There are powerful allies, many secrets, concealed enemies, and a wickedly insane ending. If you aren't one for cliffhangers you need to have the sequel at the ready because you will need it!

“Matthew, exactly how psychic are you?"

"So psychic that other psychics should be called Mattics.”

She could save the world—or destroy it.
Sixteen year old Evangeline “Evie” Greene leads a charmed life—until she begins experiencing horrifying hallucinations. When an apocalyptic event decimates her Louisiana hometown, killing everyone she loves, Evie realizes her hallucinations were actually visions of the future—and they’re still happening. Fighting for her life and desperate for answers, she must turn to her wrong-side-of-the-bayou classmate: Jack Deveaux.

But she can’t do either alone.
With his mile-long rap sheet, wicked grin, and bad attitude, Jack is like no boy Evie has ever known. Even though he once scorned her and everything she represented, he agrees to protect Evie on her quest. She knows she can’t totally trust Jack. If he ever cast that wicked grin her way, could she possibly resist him?
Who can Evie trust?
As Jack and Evie race to find the source of her visions, they meet others who have gotten the same call. An ancient prophesy is being played out, and Evie is not the only one with special powers. A group of teens has been chosen to reenact the ultimate battle between good and evil. But it’s not always clear who is on which side.
