One of the very few combat movies dealing with the korean war. Good story but realize that this movie was done on a budget and it is decent for the time that it was made. The only thing I thought was a bad mark was that they used an M5 stuart as a chinese tank (maybe it was captured?).

"writingonfilm" has left out the very gritty and realistic Fuller film Merrill's Marauders (the library doesnt own a copy of this) about the secret volunteer US commando force sent in to cause havoc in the jungle behind the Japanese lines in Burma in WWII, out of which evolved the US Rangers. As to Fixed Bayonets, this in nowhere near as eccentric as Sam's masterpiece Steel Helmet but made almost as cheaply on a huge studio set which plays out like a very stark stage play. No, Mr. "aaa5756" this IS worth the wait!

The best war filmmakers, for my money, are Don Siegel (Hell is For Heroes), Howard Hawks (Air Force), and especially Sam Fuller (Fixed Bayonets, The Steel Helmet, The Big Red One). Give me a personal story on the impact of war over big explosions anytime.

It was O.K for a home TV movie. I was entertained. But it was NOT worth a long library wait or the
price to rent from a Red Box.
