I read this because of Joel Stein's incredibly funny short column that is occasionally in the back of Time Magazine (it is easily the best part of the issue when it's in there). This started out pretty well, and there were definitely great moments, but the author's tone & repeat jokes get old towards the end.

"..enduring three days of basic training with the Marine Corps.." That is almost as much time as Rep. John Boehner spent in Navy basic training before he washed out, and the same for George. W. Bush in USAF enlisted basic training before he washed out.

Really objected to the use of rape jokes throughout the book. With a better editor, this book could have been rated higher..

Well written, funny. A great new addition to the genre, which includes 'Another Shot' by Joe Kita
