As lead singer and songwriter of Twisted Sister, Dee Snider became the poster boy for heavy metal, hair bands, and the wild side of rock. Now, in his twisted new memoir, he reveals the real stories behind the crazy makeup, the big hair, and hits like "We're Not Gonna Take It" and "I Wanna Rock." Filled with entertaining anecdotes and candid confessions, Shut Up and Give Me the Mic takes you through the good times and bad with a heavy metal star who worked as hard as he played, and who did it all for his wife, four kids, and millions of fans.

Presented here is an entertaining, informative, and inspiring story of a man who has fought tooth and nail to live out his dreams, all the while standing by his beliefs and enduring the pain of his failings in the process. While some autobiographies suffer from the author's obvious lack of writing experience, Snider managed to write a book that never loses it's focus or it's appeal. A real page turner that should satisfy both fans and non-fans alike. The only negative criticism I could give echoes the feeling of commenter "reader2002": Snider tries to tie every loose end up of the past 20+ years of his life in just a few final pages, which hardly does the reader of the book any justice. In fairness though, he does state he will be writing a 2nd part to this book, so you can expect further elaboration in (hopefully) the next few years. Highly recommended!

Great read! You don't have to be a fan of Twisted to enjoy this book (I"m not). The way they overcame so many setbacks to finally succeed is truly impressive. I read it in three days, couldn't put it down. My only complaint is that the last 20 years are told in only the final four pages, although he hints there may be a part two (or is he only joking about that?). I had hoped to read about their reunion and recording the Christmas cd, but it's not in this book.
