This is a loving memoir, by Hector Abad of his father, a tolerant and committed man, killed in 1987 by paramilitaries in Columbia. In writing this book, Abad preserves the memory of his father from oblivion for a little while longer and reminds us of the political and military forces which killed him and the continuing social inequality and suffering of Columbians.
