This might be my single favorite album of the 80s, and it’s from one of the most underappreciated bands from that era. Doolittle is largely dominated by tight, pithy songs that swing from grinding angst (Debaser, Tame, Crackity Jones) to almost sweet, goofy pop (Here Comes Your Man, La La Love You). The album is too punk to be rock and too melodic to be punk. I suppose it would snuggle quite well between the Ramone’s "Rocket to Russia" and Green Day’s "Dookie."

This is hands down the album I would choose if I could only listen to one for the rest of my life...

Rarely is there an album that is perfect from beginning to end. This one was the second in a row for the Pixies. Listen to their debut, Surfer Rosa, also and hear why they are still heralded even today.
