Rome: Everything you ever wanted to know. --- by Klay Lamprell. This book has the cautionary note on the front cover: Not-for-Parents: I’m not at all sure as to why that should be there. I’m a parent (ok: a bit long on the tooth) and found nothing particularly upsetting. But maybe such a caveat might pump up sales. I don’t know.
This book is non-linear, heavily illustrated with photographs as well as cartoon-like art work. There’s a lot of Roman history in this book: Rome’s victory columns; reading the ruins of Rome (a thumb-nail of Archeology; everyday gods of Rome; as well as a lot of content of contemporary Rome: the Jewish Quarter; Gellato; Roman graffiti. This book is by turns enjoyable, amusing, not always on the beaten path and by all means suitable or parents.
