Richard J. Davidson gives readers a new model for understanding emotions, as well as practical strategies to change them. Personality is composed of six basic emotional 'styles, ' including resilience, self-awareness, and attention. He explains the brain chemistry that underlies each style to give a new model of the emotional brain, one that will go so far as to affect the treatment of autism and depression. And, finally, he provides strategies to change ones brain and emotions if they so desire.

The narration is clear, if at moments a bit bland, though I put that down to the writing.
The starts off making brief descriptions of psychology, and ultimately justifying brain science to justify psychological theories; it then explains the results of research, namely the six dimensions of personality (O.C.E.A.N.), and six continua of emotional styles, and gives listeners the chance to get an approximation of their own (I'm apparently high in all except for attention/ focus, where I'm a bit higher than middle). The book eventually comes to advocate and explain mindfulness, and ends giving advice on how to do it to alter one's own emotional style in the last chapter.
