Joe Casimir has lived with his grandmother in northern Ohio since his parents were killed when he was a baby. Now his grandmother has broken her hip and he is sent to “Aunt” Myra in the southern part of the state until the hip has mended. When a neighbour’s dog escapes into Mr. Boulderwall’s garden, Joe comes to the attention of the old millionaire who believes that Joe has Polish roots as he does himself and he decides that he will take control of Joe’s life. Joe must decide who he should please – himself or others. This is an interesting dilemma with a satisfactory conclusion. Reviewed by BPL volunteer EE.
