For most of these dishes, since they are started in a pot on the stove. It is easier to turn down the heat and slow cook in the pot itself. However, until you master the art, need to keep an eye so that it doesn't run dry and burn; unlike a slow cooker the stove does not turn itself off.
But with a little experience can master the art of slow cooking in one pot on the stove.

The two-pot recipes in this book, may however, produce food with a little more texture and tough meat cooked in the slow cooker will be more softer.

I read through all the recipes and ended up not trying any of them. They all called for curry powders or pastes that are already prepared/packaged. I could get the same recipes off the packages or the manufacturer's websites. I wanted to learn how to mix all the spices myself.

Well this was disappointing. I had thought these recipes would enable me to make curry sauces from scratch. What is the point of a madras curry recipe that calls for madras curry powder plus a few other ingredients? That's like defining a word using the word itself.
