The main men are Joe and Les. There is no Adam character mentioned directly or indirectly in this erotic period drama about a drifter working as a laborer in coal barges along Union Canals in the 1950s, based on the 1954 novel of the same name by Alexander Trocchi. Guess it is time to hunt down Tocchi's novel for comparison. Like the saying goes: "You don't know Joe from Adam, and, yes indeed, you do not know him at all."

Another film comes to mind which is more violent but less sexual scenes: The Killer Inside Me - 2010 with, Casey Affleck, Jessica Alba, and Kate Hudson, based on Jim Thompson's 1952 novel.

Ewan McGregor plays a self-centered man who uses people and is despicable. Well acted but awful movie.

This is a pretty well acted and directed drama from Scotland. However, the downside is the main character Joe, played by Ewan McGregor, is simply not a very likeable guy. Plenty of nudity and sex scenes here, and the plot involving a drown girl is intriguing. Worth a watch if you don't mind the lack of a proper closure at the end.

Warning - One of those rare NC-17 films. Ewan McGregor plays a man seemingly without constraints. Bleak drama to the extreme. There is no Hollywood ending to make the audience happy. The title, "Young Adam" must be some kind of joke.

Unapologetic character study of a narcissistic young man.

Think of me when you look at yourself. With undying love,
C.

I'm sorry, Les. It just happened. There's nothing personal against you.
===
We were flatmate but I don't know I recently moved in so... We were friendly rather than friends.
===
Are you sorry?
-Fat lot of good that would do.
===
One of your girlfriends?
- Yes, she died.
You still carry her photo.
-Yes, I don't know why. I should have get rid of it long time ago
Of cause you should. The dead can't count for himself.
===
The murder is not proved yet.
- What do you mean?
They didn't prove that it was. They know that a woman don't get undressed for nothing.
===
I'm sorry.
-What are you sorry about? It happened. We ran our course.
