There were never going to be any happy endings for me. I know that now. But that is all right.
Summary
Add a SummaryChristine has a rare type of amnesia. She can function throughout the day making short-term memories perfectly fine, but at night when she goes to sleep, each day vanishes. She cannot convert her short term memories into long term memories. As she begins keeping a journal at the encouragement of a new doctor, Christine slowly starts to untangle a web of truth, and deceit, but remains unsure what or whom to trust

Comment
Add a CommentVery good debut novel; it will remind readers of other books they have read, but still, a good first book. If you liked "Fifty First Dates" "The Silent Patient" and "Sometimes I Lie", this book will entertain you.
Awesome book. Highly recommend, good twists and interesting character development. One of my favorite books!
Just the right level of nerve wracking tension, with a quick pace and enough twists for you to stay glued to the page!
GREAT SURPRISE ENDING
Recommended by the authors of "The Wife Between Us"
More ridiculous coincidences and plot holes than the average "Die Hard" movie - without the over-the-top fun. I knew the "surprising" ending a quarter of the way through the book. The best I can say is that it was readable enough for me to finish it.
I read this book based on a recommendation from one of the library staff. It was exactly what I was looking for. If you like books similar to those written by Gillian Flynn or Liane Moriarty, give this one a try.
If you've never read either of the authors mentioned above, this book is a great psychological thriller. I couldn't put it down because I couldn't wait to find out what would happen next. Definitely give it a try!
Read this book off the library recommendations list. Very pleased with the plot premise (though repetitive at times). Have recommended to a friend who is a mystery buff. I loved the ending. Left the reader to decide if they wanted a happy happy ending or the beginning of a happy ending.
The premise of this book sounded interesting and it was.
As we start going further and further along during the week and Christine slowly pieces together what happened the night that lead to her amnesia. Every day she wakes up with no memory of her adult life, but as time goes along with each journal entry, she is able to automatically recall some memories without being prompted. The more Christine finds out (about her coma, her long term stay at a mental hospital, later her stay at Warring House), the more she is unsure the memories that she thinks she uncovers. What she finds is there are inconsistencies with what Ben has told her and what she remembers, like Adam (their baby), Claire (her BFF) leaving, the burning of their former house, etc.
It was an interesting read for sure. The closer we got to the climax the more intense and obsessed I got. Although part way through the book I was getting a little bored with the repetition, but I guess that can't be helped given that she is suppose to be amnesic.
The idea is really interesting and I wanted to like it more, but it became so repetitive (understandably given the premise, but it's not much fun to read the same thing over and over), that by the end of the book when the writing seemed to get rushed, I was grateful. Maybe the author was getting tired of things too? For me, it was just OK.
