This "Chronicle" CD is a pretty impressive compilation of swamp-rock music from the popular American band known as Creedence Clearwater Revival.
These 20 tracks are sure to please any fan of early rock'n'roll from the late-1960s to the early-1970s.
All of these tunes were written almost exclusively by singer/lead guitarist, John Fogerty.
(*Be sure to check out the "Suzie Q" music-video*)
There are 20 songs on this CD. the final two don't feature brother Tom Fogarty on rhythm guitar, for he had left the group. There was an album on which John Fogarty shared the songwriting duties. He loosened up, in other words. It turned out to be a weak album. John had been in the military, and had been similarly 'bossy,' in the barracks. John is a multi-instrumentalist and when he didn't like the drums part Doug Clifford played, he pranked Clifford's house ( later that evening, after listening to the tapes of the session). This is a strong collection of rootsy rock and roll, which includes none of the songs the other members wrote, on the album mentioned above.
Rolling Stone Magazine rank Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR, for short) as being one of the top 100 greatest rock bands of all time. And if you give a serious listen to some of the feel-good, foot-stompin' tunes on this CD, then I'm sure that you'll find yourself in full agreement with Rolling Stone on their rating.
CCR are an American, "roots" rock band who originated from the San Francisco area in the mid-1960's.
Between 1968-1972, CCR released seven best-selling albums, all of which contained a string of top ten hits.
CCR's unfortunate demise (which came about quite abruptly in 1972) was mainly due to singer/songwriter, John Fogerty's fierce strangle-hold on the band's creative output.
This "Best Of" CD contains 20 toe-tappin' tunes from CCR's heyday. Four of my favorites are - Suzie-Q, Bad Moon Rising, Hey Tonight, and Who'll Stop The Rain?
