I consider the Animals to be one of rock'n'roll's original grunge bands. With their distinctive vocals from Eric Burden, and their gritty, bluesy sound, the Animals emerged onto the British music scene in 1963.

It was with their #1 hit song "House of the Rising Sun" (in 1964) that the Animals gained significant recognition in Canada and the USA and became a major driving force behind the first wave of the "British Invasion".

In the 1960's "psychedelic phase", the Animals' popularity ranked right up there with the likes of The Dave Clark Five, The Kinks and The Hollies.

This Animals' "Best Of" CD contains 15 tracks which were all recorded in the years between 1966-1968. Four of my very favourite tunes are - San Franciscan Nights, Monterey, Sky Pilot and See See Rider.

Britain gave us some great blue/rock and roll bands. At the top for me is the Rolling Stones and Eric Burdon and The Animals. The cd doesn't have all the hits by far, which is not their fault. Eric Burdon and the Animals really only stayed together a short time. Then it was Eric Burdon and War. That followed with just Eric Burdon. "Eric Burdon and the Animals" is an beautiful set of blues/rock hits from 1966-1968. How could one band put out so much material and still go out on tour all over the world? You won't regret taking home "The Animals". They were a talented group of guys.
