A powerful exploration in obsession and passion within the context of a gay love triangle involving an older well-respected gay Spanish movie director and his adoring fans.

I usually like Almodovar... this movie is supposed to be "Hilarious" according to the DVD jacket...must be a weird sense of humour.. It is depressing!..good acting with the usual actors used by Almodovar. I have seen better from him.

Film is a kind of thriller with a gay killer. Shows gay men's lives without judgement or condemnation (although throwing your rival off a cliff is frowned on)
Film is difficult to set in time, as it was shot in the mid-80's and it seems to be about the early sixties in Spain. Franco was still alive, and the Guardia Civil had nearly unlimited power to impose civic order without a lot of regard to law or proper procedure.

One of Almodovar's first and best, before he started running away from his gay self. Stars a young, beautiful Antonio Banderas.

This 1986 film by openly gay Spanish director Pedro Almodovar portrayed the love relationship between several gay and bisexual men. Gay sex scenes abound and for this reason it may not be everyone's cup of tea. Personally I think Almodovar is a great film director but prefer his other films like 'Talk to Her' and 'Volver'.

Sexual Content: Plenty of sex scenes between men, but none between men and women. Not for children or the conservative straights.
