Add a CommentThis is a beautiful story. It's well written and a pleasure to read, as are all Patricia Polacco's books. It make's the story of Sadie and January even more heartfelt and important knowing it was based on true events and real people. This is a story of a family escaping slavery and their hard road to freedom on the underground railway.
This book was very well written. The story was exciting. It was a wonderful story of a family living as escaped slaves prior to the civil war. The bravery of the family and the entire town show through wonderfully. We used this and "Pink and Say" to supplement our study of the Civil War.
