The simple, beautiful, rhythmic recitation of the girl's reflection on the color black carries her through history all the way to the present day and the much-needed affirmation that black is a color in her rainbow.
Wow - this complex book is both thoughtful and beautiful. There is so many nods to Black culture in a really provoking and unique way. I loved the artists, poets, activists weaved into every bit of a space. The illustrations pop off the page. I also appreciated the thoughtful backmatter.
