Dead Silence --the first in-depth look into the new biological arms race--tells the inside story of the U.S. anthrax attacks and their connection to the existence of a frightening global germ warfare underworld.

Dead Silence follows a journalist and a private eye as they pursue leads that take them across four continents, inside classified labs in the U.S., and to an off-limits Russian military compound. In South Africa they track down "Doctor Death," the apartheid army scientist who--using the expertise of his U.S. and U.K. intelligence contacts--worked on an array of germ weapons, including one targeting black people, a weapon that may be for sale on the black market today.

Their investigation intensifies to include the mysterious deaths of some of the world's leading germ war scientists in the wake of 9/11, including that of Bruce Ivins--the man the tabloids called "Doctor Doom" and the FBI controversially insists is the lone perpetrator of the anthrax attacks.

How does one tie together the deaths of Bruce Ivins (alleged Anthrax assassin of Ft. Detrick, ruled a "suicide") and David Kelly (UK's MoD, MI6/CIA, the WMD investigator of Iraq - ruled a "suicide") and CIA's Frank Olson (ruled a "suicide" but after the exhumation of his body, most definitely murder)? Most deftly and that's exactly what Coen and Nadler have done! An excellent telling of strange events. From the Publishers Weekly review: ". . . $1.76 billion were spent on anthrax research in 2006 alone" which probably benefitted the Blackstone Group, the private equity firm which cornered the market on Anthrax vaccines (most illogical, since in the realm of biowarfare, Anthrax would be the least damaging, and most difficult of agents to weaponize? ? ?). Messrs. Coen and Nadler do an awesome job by concentrating on one thing and one thing alone, the Anthrax, and following the Anthrax trail. This book is the complete antithesis of the quite inaccurate book by Willman, "Mirage Man" once more making suspect all such Pulitzer Prize recipients (also explains the most salient points missed by Guillemin's "American Anthrax" book, which concentrates on the Anthrax assassin, whomever they may be?). [An incredibly powerful youtube vid has been released online by Media Roots called "American Anthrax" - - at and view it for some serious enlightenment.] When Willman & Guillemin write books, somehow neither is aware that the El Hibri family owns BioPort, the principal anthrax vaccine mfr., and is half-owner of DynPort, located right outside Ft. Detrick, with the equipment required to weaponize Anthrax, which Ft. Detrick did not possess, that is not investigative journalism! (The other half-owner of DynPort was private military contractor, DynCorp, with a record of sex slave trafficking in Bosnia, and murder in Iraq. It would later be bought, then much later sold, by Robert McKeon's PE firm, Veritas Capital. Mr. McKeon sadly committed "suicide" awhile back by strangling himself?)
