From Library Staff

Beautiful illustrations guide this lyrical, moving story of loneliness and an unusual friendship, through the seasons to a poignant resolution.

Scarecrows used to creep me out but this book could change anyone's mind. Ferry's gentle rhyming text the Fan brothers' exquisite pictures combine in a story about a lonely scarecrow and an abandoned crow who become best friends.

A cute picture book for kids about a lonely scarecrow who finds not only a friend, but a family of sorts in the end.

A lovely picture book about Scarecrow and the changing seasons. Scarecrow finally makes a friend when he helps out a baby crow and takes him under his wing. I love the rhymes and the detailed, colourful illustrations are just beautiful.

I love a book that can transport me into a season through the illustrations, and this one is perfect for exploring the change of seasons (although it begins and ends in Autumn). It gorgeously tells the story of the lonely scarecrow, his act of kindness, and how that kindness is returned to him. Share this with children to explore Autumn, but also Kindness, Emotions, Life Cycles, and Seasons.

What a beautiful book! I loved the simple, rhyming phrases that tell the story of a lonely scarecrow who decides to help a baby crow and the friendship that blossoms. The illustrations are stunning and match the text so well. The Fan brothers are quickly becoming some of my favorite illustrators.
