From the first chapter where I learned the term "body sovereignty" through the chapters on fighting for self acceptance and my third time reading the chapter on what "confidence" really means, I loved this book.
Yes, it is mostly about being fat, but the message it drives home is that anyone who has ever been different from our culture's ideal of beauty (fat, big nose, disfigurements, deformity, OCD, Asperger, wrong skin tone, you name it) can teach themselves how to accept what they look like without letting their outward appearance control who they are and how they value themselves.
I wish I could make every teenager in America read this book. And I wish I could hand a copy to every snarky woman who makes faces at "ugly people".
