From Library Staff

A superhero dramedy like no other about an oddball band of self loathing misfits and malcontents. Alan Tudyk's role as the villainous, 4th wall breaking narrator 'Mr. Nobody' steals the show. Suggested by Isaac H.

Add the drama of the Arrowverse, the kooky oddness of Beetlejuice and a tiny bit of Cronenberg-style existential horror and you have this show. Doom Patrol is a dark comedy drama like nothing else out there. The main characters are extremely flawed but usually well intended "heroes" (parentheses emphasized). A group of misfits, self hating introverts and wannabe heroes. While learning their stories is enjoyable, the character that brings it all together is Alan Tudyk's dry-witted and sardonic Mr. Nobody. The disembodied villain and narrator to the series speaks directly to the audience by constantly breaking the 4th wall. I'll avoid explaining anything else about the character or how he fits into the story, but it's a very novel method of storytelling. The series is cleverly written so that you'll probably hate at least a few of the "heroes", but you'll love the villain and his "directors commentary" style narration. I also can't review this without mentioning the revolutionary rodent Admiral Whiskers and romcom telepath Karen are now my two favorite anti-heroes of any television show ever!
