One of the world's great comedy teams set out on a variety hall tour of Britain in 1953. Diminished by age and with their golden era as the kings of Hollywood comedy now behind them, they face an uncertain future. As the charm and beauty of their performances shine through, they re-connect with their adoring fans. The tour becomes a hit, but Stan and Ollie can't quite shake the specter of Laurel and Hardy's past.

I've never been a Laurel and Hardy fan but this was an interesting movie about the 2 men and their lives, together and separate, over many years
two good performances
watch the special features for Reilly's transformation into Ollie

I grew up watching Laurel & Hardy so when I saw they were making this movie, I was excited. It did not disappoint. I watched it twice in the week I had it. It's poignant and funny. Not your typical biopic or buddy comedy. Coogan and Reilly are pitch perfect; as is the rest of the cast. The director and screenwriter lovingly crafted this movie. Must watch - you don't need to be a fan of the pair or have seen any of their movies (although you may want to after you've seen this).

Great Bio-Pic about a comedy pair that ruled in the 1930's. This is a story of their last tour and their great friendship. Makes you want to google their entire lives and careers.

A poignant look back at the waning performing years of the classic comedy duo Laurel and Hardy, as film offers dry up and performance hall audiences dwindle ever downward. While both Steve Coogan and John C. Reilly give standout performances as the respective actors, and there are many nods to the duo's classic bits, at the movie's end I felt like something was missing. Rather a letdown.

Coogan and Riley turn in great acting jobs in this film that's by turns funny and touching.

An excellent film. I expected Steve Coogan to be excellent as Stan Laurel but John Reilly really surprised me as Oliver Hardy. I always thought of Reilly as a reasonable actor but this performance was his best yet. He apparently had to undergo 3 hours of make-up/prosthetics for this role, and it was time well spent.

Most of the film is about a tour of live performances in Europe. The comedy portrayal is right on the money. The realistic relationships are what make this sweet film. Watch the deleted scenes for extra laughs.

This is such a sweet film. The characterizations are so well done too!
