Charismatic DI Vivienne Deering leads an ace but unorthodox squad that tackles Manchester's most gruesome and off-the-wall crimes, including drug dealers, neo-Nazis, and black-market organ sellers. When strong-willed DC Dinah Kowalska connects a body at the morgue to a group of murdered girls with Down's syndrome, Viv and her team begin the hunt for a serial killer. What they uncover could leave even the most seasoned officers reeling.

An overarching mystery is resolved to dramatic effect by the final episode, with plenty of suspense, grit, and humor along the way. Suggested by Marie B.

Thoroughly enjoyed this drama, crime with lots of humor I like. At one point I had to hit pause due to a serious case of laughter. The difference between squirrels and chipmunks came out of the blue with perfect delivery and timing. Love the music, like the waiting for Irish step dancing was breaking out. Here are many of my much liked actors; Joanna Scanlan, deadpan expressions on delivery of orders, comebacks, etc. Colin Solomon from Prime Suspect & others. Sacha Dhawan from Last Tango in Halifax shows he can portray many characters. Simon Nayra makes a brief appearance. Several were not so well known to me, I found them believable.

Appreciate films that use actors from communities not often seen, which gives them a perfect chance to demonstrate their abilities. I hope the next series keeps it up.

Above average and very watchable but not one of my favorites. It seemed that in the first maybe 3 episodes, they could not make up their mind if it was a comedy or a drama. By about episode 6, it had settled into 90% drama, and episode 8 was all drama. The humor seemed to me to pop up at odd times. I liked the entire cast, really, and for those looking for strong women characters, the 3 main cops here were all women. Well, the big boss was a guy but the ladies basically made him look dumb and foolish so he does not count. This did have one of the most unusual endings I have seen in this genre'. I will for sure watch season 2. For those who like Elaine Cassidy (and count me as 1 who does although she is no Rosie Caviliero), she is much better in Acceptable Risk. All in all, definitely worth the time.

A well-acted and engaging British police comedy/drama that is not too heavy in either department. There is the main, eight episode story arc with a separate crime story per episode. Great pace and fun characters kept me interested all the way through.
